Global Generators belongs firmly in the second category, and that is down to its founder, Darren Robson.

Darren's story in power generation began well before Global Generators existed. In 1990, together with his brother Lee, he founded Advanced Diesel Engineering and spent the years that followed building it into a respected name, developing a deep, practical knowledge of diesel engines and generator sets along the way. Working side by side, the brothers grew the business through hands-on work — the kind that teaches you not just how equipment is supposed to perform on paper, but how it actually behaves on site, under load, in the real conditions customers depend on. That experience shaped a straightforward philosophy that still defines everything Darren does: reliability is not a marketing word, it is the whole point.

In 2020, after three decades in the business, the decision was made to sell Advanced Diesel Engineering. After so many years building and running the company with Lee, it was the right moment to step back. What followed was five years away from the industry — time to reflect, recharge, and view the market with fresh eyes rather than the day-to-day pressures of running a company.

That distance turned out to be valuable. Watching the sector from the outside, Darren saw the same frustrations surfacing again and again. Buyers were being sold equipment of inconsistent quality, often from unclear origins, with little of the honesty or technical support that should come as standard. He recognised a clear gap in the market for a supplier built on a simpler promise: genuine, dependable generators from manufacturers people can actually trust, sold by someone who understands the engineering behind them.

So the decision was made to return. Global Generators was formed with a deliberately focused purpose: to concentrate on supplying genuine diesel generators from reputable global manufacturers. No grey imports, no cutting corners, no overselling. Just quality power solutions, backed by real expertise and the kind of straight-talking service that comes from someone who has spent a career in the industry rather than simply trading in it.

That focus is what sets the company apart. As an authorised Cummins Power Generation dealer, Global Generators supplies brand-new generator sets built to recognised international standards, supported by genuine warranties and a global service network. Rob began his career in 2005 within the diesel generator sector, joining a respected organisation specialising in generator sales, service support, and acoustic enclosure solutions. Starting as a trainee sales advisor, he quickly demonstrated a natural ability to understand both the technical and commercial aspects of the industry. Through hard work, determination, and a genuine passion for power generation, he progressed through a variety of sales and management roles, ultimately becoming an accomplished International Sales Manager responsible for developing business across global markets.

Over the course of his career, Rob has gained extensive experience supporting customers across a diverse range of industries, including construction, manufacturing, healthcare, utilities, data centres, and commercial operations. His ability to understand complex power requirements and provide tailored solutions has earned him a reputation for professionalism, reliability, and delivering results.

A significant part of Rob's career has centred around the Cummins range of diesel generators, giving him an in-depth understanding of generator technology, power systems, and critical standby applications. His expertise spans everything from small backup power installations to large-scale industrial and mission-critical projects, enabling him to offer practical guidance and technical insight to customers worldwide.

In 2026, Rob joined Global Generators as Global Sales Director, marking an exciting new chapter in both his career and the company's continued growth. Over the past nine years, Sam has built extensive experience across a wide range of digital disciplines, including website development, search engine optimisation (SEO), paid advertising, social media marketing, content creation, analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence implementation. His ability to combine technical expertise with commercial awareness enables him to develop digital strategies that support both customer engagement and long-term business growth.
