Global Generators has supplied four Cummins C1675D5A diesel generators for export to the United Arab Emirates. Together, the four sets deliver a combined 6,700 kVA of standby power. They are due to be installed over the coming months as part of a large-scale project in the region.

The equipment supplied

Each unit is a Cummins C1675D5A open-type generating set, rated at 1675 kVA standby and 1500 kVA prime power at 50Hz. Power comes from the Cummins KTA50-GS8 engine - a turbocharged, low-temperature after-cooled V16 built for heavy-duty running.

All four sets were supplied with a Cummins ProtoNode. This is an external communications gateway that links the generator controller to a building management system (BMS), translating the controller's data into protocols a BMS understands, such as Modbus and BACnet.

The benefit is remote visibility. Once connected, the generators sit alongside every other item of plant on the same BMS dashboard, so running status, load and alarms can be viewed without walking out to four separate control panels. Faults get picked up early, and routine checks take minutes.
