The Cummins C2000D5-PB is a high-output, factory-integrated containerised diesel generator delivering 2063 kVA / 1650 kW standby power and 1875 kVA / 1500 kW prime power. Built around the proven Cummins QSK60-G3 engine, this 50Hz three-phase generator is engineered for data centres, utilities, industrial facilities and other critical-power applications.
The C2000D5-PB Containerised provides an Emergency Standby Power rating of 2063 kVA / 1650 kW. This rating is intended for supplying a variable electrical load for the duration of an interruption to a reliable utility source, making the generator well suited to mission-critical sites where a loss of power could interrupt essential operations.
For applications requiring sustained generation, the unit offers 1875 kVA / 1500 kW prime power. Its Prime Power rating can support variable loads for unlimited annual operating hours, with 10% overload capability available in accordance with the applicable ISO rating definitions. This makes the C2000D5-PB suitable for both emergency standby installations and projects requiring a dependable primary power source.
Although commonly described as a 2000 kVA generator because of its nominal power class, its exact ratings provide buyers and electrical designers with clear figures for load assessment, switchgear selection and system planning.
At the heart of the C2000D5-PB Silent is the Cummins QSK60-G3, a heavy-duty 60.2-litre, 16-cylinder diesel engine developed for large-scale power generation. Its four-cycle, 60-degree V configuration combines turbocharging with low-temperature aftercooling to deliver strong performance under demanding electrical loads.
The engine operates at 1500rpm for 50Hz generation and uses Cummins HPI-PT fuel technology with an electronic governor. Gross mechanical output reaches 1790 kWm at standby rating and 1615 kWm at prime rating. A 24V DC starting system, 280-litre lubricating-oil capacity and substantial cooling arrangement support reliable operation in major industrial installations.
Key engine characteristics include:
These specifications make the C2000D5-PB Enclosed a credible choice for high-capacity facilities that need robust power generation, predictable load response and support from Cummins’ international service network.
The low-voltage configuration uses a Stamford S7L1D-G41 alternator, providing three-phase output across 380–415V. The standard Global Generators specification is configured for 400V operation and uses the Cummins PowerCommand 3.3 control platform.
PowerCommand provides integrated generator-set control, protection and system monitoring. The Centum™ Force architecture also incorporates a touchscreen human-machine interface and can be connected to remote monitoring systems, helping operators review generator performance and manage critical operating information from a central location.
High-voltage alternator configurations are also identified in the technical data for 10.5 kV or 11 kV applications. Final voltage, alternator, protection and switchgear requirements should therefore be confirmed against the project’s electrical design before manufacture.
Rather than placing a conventional open generator inside a basic aftermarket enclosure, the C2000D5-PB is engineered as an integrated Cummins Centum™ Force power system. Its components are installed within a 40-foot high-cube ISO container, creating a transportable package designed to reduce work required at the destination site.
The standard containerised generator measures:
The ISO-format enclosure is CSC-certified for standard sea freight, making the C2000D5-PB Containerised particularly practical for worldwide export and remote infrastructure projects. Factory integration can shorten installation and commissioning times because major systems, interfaces and controls arrive assembled as a coordinated package.
Standard Centum™ Force equipment includes motorised air-intake and outlet louvres, an exhaust silencer, touchscreen HMI, quick connectors for external interfacing, starting batteries, a battery charger and an engine coolant heater. Fuel-level monitoring and a 6000-litre fuel-tank arrangement are also shown as standard within the wider range specification, while alternative tank and valve configurations can be selected to suit the installation.
The C2000D5-PB Silent incorporates acoustic insulation, a noise-reduction box and a critical-class exhaust silencer. With the variable-frequency-drive fan operating at the specified setting, the data sheet records a sound-pressure level of 82.7 dB(A) at one metre under 100% standby load.
Its cooling system is designed for operation in ambient temperatures up to 50°C, helping the generator serve projects in the UK as well as warmer global regions. Motorised louvres manage air circulation, while vertical hot-air discharge gives designers greater freedom when arranging multiple sets on constrained sites.
The independent fan controls consume less power than a traditional mechanically driven radiator arrangement. Removable cooling elements and service access points also simplify planned maintenance compared with tightly packaged conventional installations.
At full prime load, the 1875 kVA generator consumes approximately 353 litres of diesel per hour. Consumption reduces to around 269 litres per hour at 75% prime load, 186 litres per hour at 50% load and 105 litres per hour at 25% load.
At its full 2063 kVA standby rating, fuel consumption is approximately 388 litres per hour. These figures exclude consumption from generator-set accessories and should be used as planning values rather than guaranteed site totals, as actual usage will vary with load, environmental conditions, fuel quality and selected auxiliary equipment.
The listed 1000-litre tank provides approximately 2.8 hours of operation at full prime load. Larger integrated tanks and external bulk-fuel interfaces can be specified where longer autonomy is required.
Centum™ Force containers are designed for flexible layouts, including head-to-head, back-to-back and head-to-back positioning. Where the project design permits, units can be stacked two containers high. Cummins states that this approach can save up to 34% of site space compared with a traditional containerised installation.
This is particularly valuable for data-centre campuses and utility projects that require several generators to operate in parallel. An advanced paralleling control module supports fast starting of multiple units during an emergency, allowing capacity to be expanded through a modular generator plant rather than relying on one bespoke installation.
Three double-width doors, a separate single door and an optionally removable roof provide access to the main service areas. Quick-connect control interfaces and configurable connections for internal or external switchgear can further reduce construction work and simplify future expansion.
The C2000D5-PB is designed for large electrical loads where reliability, deployment speed and environmental protection are essential. Typical applications include:
Its container protects the generator from wind, rain and dust, while the modular design allows the complete power package to be repositioned or redeployed more easily than a permanent generator-room installation.
The Cummins C2000D5-PB combines a 1650 kW standby generator, a 1500 kW prime generator and an integrated acoustic container in one high-capacity package. Its QSK60 engine, PowerCommand controls, flexible electrical configurations and export-ready ISO enclosure make it a strong solution for critical infrastructure requiring dependable megawatt-scale power.
